Apologies!

So hey guys good news is a week from today Machinal opens!  Woo!!!
Bad news is I will be taking a sort of hiatus for these next two weeks as I'll be very busy with the show and as of right now I'm barely able to keep up with school work.
I just didn't want anyone to think I had forgotten this little ole blog here, I will be back as soon as Machinal is over!
Meanwhile if you are in the area you should consider stopping by for the show running from February 27th through March 3rd.  Get more information and tickets here:

A love poem...ya know, for Valentines day and all...

First I fell in love with your smile.
Then your passion.
Then,
with a feeling of surprise,
like when you have been looking for something
for hours
and find it was in your hand
the whole time.
I found
I loved you.

Haiku #36

Because you love me
still, when my hair is dirty.
When I need you most.
My dad and I then....

and now.

Some Updates!

So I've been doing some editing to the blog, trying to make it more technologically savvy.  I'm still working on it but currently, you can follow me through email by entering your email down in the bottom right corner, but I'm thinking that might be annoying to get an email notification everyday so I'm still working on that.

Along with the follow by email, there is a little funny survey right next to it.  These are all optional little things that I'm just trying out.  I'd just like to get to know the people who look at my work.

Also here's another Machinal picture for your viewing pleasure:

More great work with Denise!

There is hope

My heart is like
Hiroshima after the bomb.
It only took one
devastating explosion
to destroy an entire world
and leave the ground beneath
so poisoned,
it could not grow
another living thing
for years to come.
3 years after the bomb was dropped on Hiroshima

Haiku #35

You will break my heart
the way your smile gives me hope
I can just feel it

Things I will never be strong enough to forget

I have been wanting to use this picture for a while,
I don't know why but it seemed to fit here
I have left so many things behind:
an earring in your passenger seat,
I think it tried to escape the passionate...drunken make out.
I still keep the other, even though I will never wear it again.
a sock lost under the bed.
If you ever find it, throw it away
I don't think either of us wants to remember.
and a poem.
that I will always wonder what you did with
once you left.
I wonder if you kept your word,
I don't think I'll ever be brave enough to ask.

Haiku #30

These dreams they drown me
in memories of nightmares
lived in the day light

Haiku #29

I will risk the fall
I have no fear of heights
I would die for flight

Haiku #28

I still think of you
when my mind is still, hoping
you are not alone

I want to go back

I want to read you poetry while you cook dinner
put in a record and make love to you
the taste of Chardonnay
still on our lips
as our tongues grow familiar
with the taste of each other.

It is not a weakness

Sometimes
you just need to cry for something,
to truly mourn something
before you let it go.
Some things deserve your tears.

Haiku #25, 26, and 27

We are all lost
grasping in the dark for things
we may never find

And I am sorry
saying, we were so in love
it makes me cringe

Put a record on
make love to The Four Seasons
forget everything

Good News and Bad News.

So first off I apologize for being such a terrible writer, and not keeping up with my blog.  I've been back at Millikin now for two weeks...well now this is just the start of the third week but who's really counting?
Now I'm not one for excuses, normally I will just tell you I'm lazy or dumb, or I just plain fucked up this time, hey to err is human right? I'd respect someone more if they told me the just had a brain fart and screwed up this time than lied and made a bullshit excuse.  But I have quite a legitimate excuse (I feel) for being up to my neck in things to do and neglecting you few handful of people that actually read my writing.
The first week back Millikin's theatre program has their Spring Season auditions for the main stage shows.  Those shows this year are Spring Awakening (the musical, I did a review on it a couple weeks back) and Machinal (the drama).  So I had dance call (where you learn the little dance section you will audition with) that Tuesday the 22nd, then auditioned that Thursday, had the dance audition Friday.
I also learned that Friday the 25th that I was called back for the female lead of Machinal, which was pretty exciting.  I had call-backs that Saturday (I was not called back for the musical, due to my poor singing skills and general lack of coordination that I will own up to any day of the week).
The good news about all of that is I actually was cast as the lead female roll in Machinal as a freshman which is pretty crazy.
Bad news is that I have had practice everyday of the week, from basically 6-10.  So I've been a little busy, which has kept me from blogging.  Practices have been going pretty intensely because we opened a month from the 27th, so now we have about 3 weeks to put this whole thing together.  But honestly it is the coolest experience of my life, just a LOT of work.
Here's a little bit about Machinal:

The play is in an expressionist style, which basically means a show has taken a story and distorted reality and enhanced things, for expressive purposes (it's one of those things you kinda have to see to understand really).  But the story of Machinal is based on a true story of the first woman ever executed by electric chair.  Machinal takes us through the mind of the Young Woman as she is forced to play the role that society gives her, but everything she is forces again the machinations of the world other set for her.  Just like an animal, when cornered and frightened... they will fight back.  Resisting the machine leads to forcing the natural spirit....
All in all it's a really cool show, we open February 27th 7:30pm, and run through March 3rd 2:00pm.  The show will be in Albert Taylor Theatre at Millikin University, tickets are $10 for students $12 for everyone else.  If you're in the area you should drop by, it'll be a good time.  These are the event details and where you can by tickets on this link:

Now on a completely different note, along with book reviews, and daily haiku's, I am taking a Contemporary American Poetry class which is once a week.  Each week we are assigned quite a bit of reading and then we have to sort of put in a journal entry with basically our commentary on what we read so I'll be posting those on here as well.  Hope all is well and I'll try my best to keep up with all my work.
